Renting a Car in Dubai for Three Months: A Practical Guide
When someone has just moved to Dubai, I rarely recommend buying a car in the first week. Three months is enough time to learn the city, understand your daily routes and, most importantly, figure out what kind of car you actually need.
At Kings Rental Cars, we regularly work with clients who need a car for two or three months — for a work project, a long winter stay, while residency paperwork is being sorted, or simply while they look for the right car to buy.
Why three months is a useful middle ground
At this point, a car stops being a holiday extra and becomes part of daily life. If you have an office, school runs, meetings, the gym and trips between emirates, relying on taxis for everything gets old quickly.
Rental gives you that everyday freedom without tying up money in a purchase or creating a resale problem a few months later.
How I would price it
I would not take a daily price and multiply it by 90. For a longer stay, ask for a quote for the full period and compare it with Kings' monthly packages.
Kings Access, Flex Drive and Daily + Weekend Luxury 6+1 are designed for different patterns of use and allow clients to move between cars within a category. Over three months, that flexibility can be more valuable than staying in the same vehicle the entire time.
Choosing the car
For everyday driving: Audi A6, BMW 5 Series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class. For a family: Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe, Nissan Patrol or Range Rover. If you want the highest level of comfort in an SUV, I would look at the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
If you are considering buying later, use the rental period as a proper real-world test. A few weeks of school runs, parking, highway driving and shopping tells you far more than a short showroom test drive.
What happens after three months?
If you decide to buy, we can switch the conversation to Trading & Sales. We can source a car to your budget, inspect it, purchase it on your behalf, help resell your current car or import the right specification from Japan or Europe.
That is why I see a three-month rental as more than a temporary solution. For a new resident, it can be the safest way to work out what you genuinely want to own.
Malik’s take
If you have just arrived in Dubai, don’t buy the first decent car you see simply because you need transport immediately. Solve the transport problem with rental first. Make the buying decision when you know the city and your routine.
